Gro Pro Pots

Gro Pro fabric pots have been distributed and used commercially since 2007. In that time they have not had one reported pot failure by a commercial grower. These pots use a UV protected fabric to help deter direct sunlight damage. Made in China and imported to the USA these fabric pots offer a lowered priced alternative to the Smart Pots while remaining of high quality. Available in both black and tan these grow bags can be bought here in a variety of convenient sizes.

GROW YOUR OWN TOMATO PLANT IN A FABRIC POT

There is a new trend in culinary, farm-to-table.  Locally grown produce is becoming a necessity, but why go out and buy it when you can grow produce yourself! There is nothing like a fresh ripe tomato plucked right off the stem and added to a meal. Growing our own produce helps us connect with nature, value it and gives us a sense of sustainability.
However, not everyone thinks they have room for a garden full of peppers and tomatoes. Living in the city? Not to worry, container gardening is the solution to your problem.  You can grow an exceptionally juicy cherry tomato in a limited amount of space. Many types of container pots will ensure you yield something yummy.
Take for example, the Gro Pro Fabric Pot. With this type of container you have the ability to grow larger full-size tomatoes and other vegetable. Gro Pro Pots allow for aeration and proper drainage, making caring for the plant very easy. Gro Pro Pots also facilitate air-pruning, causing the plant to build a stronger root structure in a Smart Pot, yielding more tomatoes than a normal plastic container. Also consider what region and climate you live in before selecting a pot. Often small fruiting plants like cherry tomatoes will also thrive in a traditional pot. When growing tomatoes and green peppers, make sure that you have enough sunlight.  Position your pots in an area where they will receive maximum amount of sunlight in a 24 hour period.
Grow bag containers also come in many sizes.  At-home gardeners can select the size that works best for their space or how much produce they would like to receive. Smaller pots will cause plants to yield less fruit because they do not provide plenty of space for roots to grow.  If you want to grow a full-size tomato plant, a 10 gallon fabric pot will work best.  It is large enough for the plant to give you many tomatoes but it is also a portable size.  A one gallon pot will work perfectly for cherry tomatoes.
The container size is up to you. Plants like tomatoes do need a lot of root space to produce a lot of fruit.  When using fabric pots you will also need the correct potting mix to provide the proper balance of drainage and water retention.  Make sure that the mix you select is more water retentive.  A cheaper, denser potting mix will hold more water, which is required when using grow bags.  Fabric grow bags aerate from all sides because they are made out of a geo-textile fabric that allows the plants roots to “breath.”  Balance this with a water retentive soil mixture and you will obtain a tomato plant that has strong roots and lots of fruit.
These tips and techniques can be used when growing a variety of plants in at-home containers.  Consider also doing a herb garden to spice up any recipe!
